Track Top 2000
TRACK TOP 2000
3/8” Latex Running Track Surface
The premiere track surface system
1. GENERAL INFORMATION:
Track Top 2000 is designed for use on running tracks. It can be installed for new construction or on existing all-weather surfaces. The existing surfaces must be sound and stable.
Track Top 2000 is a mixture of rubber granules, ranging in size from 1 to 6 millimeters, bound together with Styrene Butadine Latex binder. The rubber granules and binder are applied in multiple applications until the track surface reaches the thickness desired by the owner 1/4" to 3/8", to 1/2".
2. SURFACE PREPARATION:
Prior to the application of Track Top 2000, the surface shall be examined by a representative of the company and the owner or his representative to approve drainage and planarity. New asphalt must cure a minimum of 14 days.
Any areas that are not acceptable to the owner or the company representative must be repaired prior to the application of Track Top 2000. After repairs are made, the owner and representative must examine the track again to make sure the repairs are acceptable. It may be necessary to allow the repairs to cure prior to the application of Track Top 2000. This curing time depends upon the type of repair and the extent of the repair.
The entire track shall be cleaned of all dirt, debris, grease, oil and any other foreign materials. This shall be performed in a manner deemed best by the contractor.
3. INSTALLATION:
After the new asphalt and/or patches have cured and the track has been cleaned, a prime coat of Track Top 2000 will be applied at a rate of .05 gallons (mixed 1 part water to 1 part latex binder) per square yard.
Next, a layer of S.B.R. rubber granules (3 to 6 millimeters in size) will be spread evenly, either mechanically or manually, at a rate of approximately 2 pounds per square yard. This layer of rubber will then be sprayed with Track Top 2000 latex binder at a rate of .1 gallon per square yard. This amount of binder is sufficient to thoroughly saturate the rubber granules.
Allow the first layer to cure and install a second layer of rubber granules (3 to 6 millimeters) in the same manner as the first at a rate of 2.5 pounds per square yard. This layer of rubber will then be saturated with Track Top 2000 latex binder at a rate of approximately .2 gallons per square yard.
Allow the second layer to cure and install a third layer of rubber granules (2 to 4 millimeters) in the same manner at a rate of 3 pounds per square yard. This layer will then be saturated with Track Top 2000 latex binder at a rate of .2 gallons per square yard.
Allow the third layer to cure, then apply a final layer of S.B.R. rubber granules (1 to 3 millimeters in size) in the same manner at a rate of 2 pounds per square yard. This layer will then be sprayed with Track Top 2000 latex binder mixed with Track Top 2000 dispersed pigment at a rate of 1 part pigment to 11 parts Track Top 2000 latex binder.
Allow the final layer of rubber to cure and install a final spray coating of pigmented Track Top 2000 latex binder mixed with Track Top dispersed pigment, as described above, at a rate of .05 gallons per square yard.
NOTE: The system, as stated above, gives a 3/8" surface. The color is black. If other colors are desired, EPDM rubber granules will be substituted for the S.B.R. rubber granules.
